HISTORICAL MARKER--CHEROKEE. Gold was discovered here in 1853 by descendents of Cherokee Indians who had migrated here earlier. Placer mining was extensive here in the 1850s and later gave way to quartz mines. 19723 North Tuolumne Rd, Tuolumne.
HISTORICAL MARKER--RALPHS STATION. Ralphs Station was the terminus of the Sugar Pine Railway, incorporated in 1903, that ran up into the forest through what is now known as Twain Harte, Lyons Dam, Fraser Flat, Strawberry, and further up. Ralph's Station itself had a packing house, built by Frank Ralph, to pack apples and pears that he grew and shipped to New York via the Sierra Railway. Tuolumne Rd, Tuolumne.
HISTORICAL MARKER--TUOLUMNE. This town was at the geographical center of a mini-Gold Rush in 1856-7 occurring on what was known as the East Belt of the Mother Lode. White settlers first arrived in 1854, and the first quartz gold was discovered a half mile east of this marker in 1858, which became known as the Eureka Mine. The town of Summerville grew up around the mine. The town was later called "Carters" and finally "Tuolumne". Carter St & Tuolumne Rd, Tuolumne.

TUOLUMNE VETERANS MEMORIAL HALL. The Veterans Memorial Hall was built in Art Deco style in 1936 as part of a public works project that was part of the "New Deal" of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
